How do ya' do ... la de da de dadum ... la da da de da dummmmm

We've been busy riding Dumbo, waiting in lines and getting dehydrated. That only means one thing...we've been in Disneyland!

But we used Dad's camera and so we only have this picture from my cell phone to show for it right now. Expect more documentation of our trip to California soon.

Ode to a bouncer

I've dreaded this most tragic day,
When I could not within you play.
Our favorite thing to do was bounce,
But you won't hold another ounce.

Oh bouncer, how I've loved thee long;
Oh bouncer, what a sad, sad song!

In you I found my inner peace,
A place to be wrapped in soft, soft fleece.
Your jungle print, with hippos too;
Sometimes your vibrator made me poo.

Oh bouncer, how I've loved thee long;
Oh bouncer, what a sad, sad song!

In you I got my first haircut,
so my style would not be in a rut.
You've been with me through ups and downs,
but without you I will be all frowns.

Oh bouncer, how I've loved thee long;
Oh bouncer, what a sad, sad song!

You helped me drain my stuffy nose,
especially when I took this pose.
Even when I barfed on me,
you helped me find tranquility.

Oh bouncer, how I've loved thee long;
Oh bouncer, what a sad, sad song!

My momma's pushed you to the limit,
but the manual said 25 lbs, darnit!
This impressive poundage has come so fast,
I can't believe this bounce will be our last.

Oh bouncer, how I've loved thee long;
Oh bouncer, what a sad, sad song!

You've been here since the very first,
I'm just so sad I think I'll burst.
We've had these good times and these bad,
but saying good-bye just feels so sad.

Oh bouncer, how I've loved thee long;
Oh bouncer, what a sad, sad song!

Good-bye old friend. We'll miss you. Thanks for all the laughs.

Breakfasting on our deck

A week ago we treated ourselves to a delicious, somewhat nutritious, breakfast of grits*, eggs, sausage, toast, & chocolate milk.

We whipped up breakfast and then took it outside to delight in our southern b-fast fare and enjoy some nature. It was lovely.

Nothing like fresh air and scenery to complement a meal. (Not to be a meal, as my momma used to joke when we would ask her what was for dinner.)

Anywhere's a good place for head tilt.

I keep on reading about setting rituals as a family, and this is one I think we can all get behind. Let's hope our arteries are up to the challenge too! All for the sake of family togetherness, right?

* For the uninitiated, grits are delicious. I defy anyone to disagree! Just tell me your concerns and I'll come over put your doubts to rest with a hearty serving of grits and eggs. You'll be thanking me through bitefuls of delicious, hominy goodness.

The man is an open book

Let me tell you what's on Jacob's mind...

"I am a spinner of mythic proportions. A boy to be proven.

A phone to be spun.

A motion to behold...

and behold

and behold

and behold

and behold

and behold

and behold

and behold

and behold

and be--, oh, hi Mommy, I didn't see you there!"

NOTE: Each of these head tilts was a separate event. It took me 5 minutes to get these shots. The man loves to spin that phone, plastic easter eggs, laundry baskets, lids to pots...okay, everything!
