Me Jacob

For those of you who have seen the Disney cartoon Tarzan I'd like you to take a good look at baby Jacob. I (Robyn) think he bears a striking resemblance to baby Tarzan. What do you think? It is a much more savory resemblance than Squiggy...although I don't deny it. He's our little man cub. Posted by Hello

Picture of the young 'n

After much delay, for which we apologize, we are posting a picture of Jacob. People say he looks like me, but I don't think I've ever been that handsome. He does have my hair though. Mom told me I had hair almost to my shoulders by the time I was nine months old. Maybe he doesn't have afro hair just yet, but it does look like Squiggy (from Laverne and Shirley) hair. Disclaimer: I am not saying he looks like Squiggy (Robyn would not like me saying that); only that his hair resembles Squiggy's hair.

More pics to come. (You believed us once that we'd post a picture. Although it took awhile, we eventually did. We're asking you to trust us once more.)

I'm a real boy

and what a boy!

i'm glad to announce the latest addition to our family:

Jacob LeGrand Hutchison

friday was a rough one for mom and baby, but the end result was a mircale we will not soon forget.

our evening on thursday began with robyn being poked four times trying to get the iv in her arm and then another getting her blood taken. (yes, ouch.) next up was about eight hours of backlabor and very little sleep for any concerned parties. robyn got an epidural around 9 am and proceeded to dilate from 4 to 8/8.5 cm by 11 am. the drs said we needed to wait until the little man dropped a little further before we could start pushing. well, by 5 pm, very little, if anything, changed, so they decided a ceasarian was the next option. the original epidural had worn off sufficiently by then, so robyn had to get another. (yes, ouch again). they wheeled her into or5 and proceeded to take the baby around 6:20 pm. about 1o mins later out popped little jacob. i got it all on tape. at 6:28, a 7 lbs 4 oz tike bursted onto the scene and robyn and i bursted into tears. words cannot express, as any new parent would tell you, the blessing we received to have the opportunity to raise our new son. God's love and trust is so magnificent to allow the two of us to bring up such an amazing child, and we could feel it.

we got him up to the room and mom, after refueling herself with some gatorade, began to nurse him. and did he ever know what he was doing. after such a rough 24 hrs, seeing him feed with such ease was to us a terrific end to june 17, 2005.

unfortunately, b/c we are on my work laptop at the hospital, we cannot post any pictures yet. however, as soon as we get home on monday or tuesday, we will allow you to feast your eyes on 2o 3/4 inches of mini-hutchison goodness.

bye for now.

Hee hee hoooooo

We just wanted to let everyone (all 4 of you) know that today is the day it all begins. This evening we'll be admitted to the hospital and start the induction. So, unless I go into amazingly fast and productive labor right now, the baby will be born on June 17th! We are so excited. And of course, now the nerves have set in. It's a little daunting to have all day to mull things over. Plus I'm not allowed to eat any solids today...just jell0, juice, popcicles and broth...so my most friendly comfort-vice of food is not available!

Any suggestions for how to make the day pass? So far I've thought of the following:

1. Unnecessary but time consuming house cleaning.

2. Eat, oops, nevermind.

3. Take a very nice, long shower.

4. Start suffering and write my masterpiece.

You know, the usual stuff. But I'm open to suggestions! Despite this long day, we are so excited and grateful to be having our baby getting ready to wing its way to us. Soon soon soon we'll know what it is! We love it so much. It's absolutely worth a day of apple juice and pacing.

Oh the Times they are a Changing

I can barely barely remember when I used to look something like this. We excitedly took this picture the day we found out we were expecting. We chose this outfit because we were certain I could never grow too big for it. (Note how well I fit it below...) I remember disliking this picture, which is funny since now I would gladly wallpaper a room with it. I guess hindsight really is twenty twenty, because now I look like this!

Gasp! What on earth happened?!? Truly, truly amazing. While this version of myself is, ahem, altered, we like to see it as my body perfected. I mean really, look at what it's accomplishing! Much more amazing than any sort of ideal body image in a magazine. I have a little squirmy invading force inside of me. We love it so much and lovingly blame it entirely for the changes in these pictures.

I'd like some pain here...please?

Each time I have a Braxton-Hicks contraction (painless) I end up looking down at my belly, many times holding it gingerly in my hands, and saying "hurt, huuuuurt". But, despite all of my pleading, so far they are all pretty much pain-free (read: somewhat useless).

Who knew I was such a good incubator? At least that's the positive spin we're putting on it. I feel like the "baby-Ritz". I guess it just doesn't want to leave such a sweet pad.

Come, come, please come!

We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of this bundle of joy. Although it is now lazily squirming around in me like it hasn't a care in the world. We are trying to be patient, but now that the due date is here we are feeling extra anticipation. Matt said it's like Christmas Eve every night with no promise of Christmas the next day. I don't take quite that view, because I don't remember experiencing the "most intense [pain] in the human experience" before unwrapping my presents. Shudder.

I guess I should take a page from Matt's mom's book and go mow the lawn. It worked for her!

It's a boy! But not for us...

We just got the wonderful news that Jana and Jon are going to have a little boy in late October or early November! We are so happy for them and so excited to have a boy in the family. The Gamette family is pretty lean on boys.

It's ironic that this news would come today, June 8th, our due date, as we still don't know what we're having! It was definitely by choice, but now it's just funny how the timing worked out.

Here's hoping this little rumpkin comes soon. We can't wait!

Episode I

In an effort to conform to what everyone else is doing (a principle we really want to teach our children) we thought we'd start an innocent little blog with family updates, pictures, etc. We are four days away from the birth of our little baby...we can only hope. Since we have no baby outside of the womb, we just don't have much to blog about. But that will soon change. As of right now this is all the baby we've got:

Just kidding, we don't know how to post pictures to a blog yet; we're not quite that blog savvy.

Bye for now.
