We often go walking

That's right, folks! Every morning Jacob and I go on a walk. I'd like to think Jacob loves these outings, however, it might just be the steady stream of Cheerios that I send his way. Because we go on the same route every day (creatures of habit) and because the same basic things happen (birds chirping, sun shining and the "dog lady" driving by in her Buick filled with 7 barking dogs) it's easy to take our truly lovely (and wooded) neighborhood for granted. Mom appreciated it and had us bring the camera along for her last walk with us.

Across the street (can you tell he works in landscaping?)

Our house (can you tell we don't?)

The back of our house...can you see it?

We were feeling especially warm and fuzzy about the great outdoors because of this flower bed we had planted the night before. Beautiful, no?

The day after mom left I came outside for our walk to find our beautiful flower bed DESTROYED! Along with the remains of the peaceable plants, I found incriminating hoof prints all over the place. We unwittingly planted deer candy! The scene is so grisly I can't even bring myself to post a picture.

I'd like to warn all the deer that live in our neighborhood, yeah you! I'm actively searching out the foulest tasting plants around, so our house won't be a candy shop for long.

To our readers: any suggestions? (Insert maniacal laugh here.) Broah ha ha ha!

It started with such promise...

...and ended with such disillusionment. (Note Matt's terrible tiles.)

I want my mommy!

Well, that's how I feel anyway after a wonderful week with Grandma Hilda. Life has galloped right along since she left. We had a great visit from Brent & Natalie, Jacob's first diaper rash (bad), and of course our ever full social calendar. Ha. Nonetheless, tonight's not the night for the full story on mom's trip...but here's a taste of the fun we had.

Another thing that has kept us busy is our hair. I got a cut, Jacob got butched and Matt got sheared (baaa).

Seriously, butched.

(Matt has EXTREMELY sensitive eyes, so that's why I guess he chooses to close them in pictures. Don't laugh, I think he's sensitive about it.)

Does this look like too much birthday to you?

Jacob, unlike Sister Bear of Berenstain Bear-dom, was very happy to be celebrated on his day of days.

A year ago today Robyn was being sliced op-, I mean, Jacob was born! He is a joy in every way. We feel so very blessed to have such a healthy, smart, sweet, funny boy. And he's cute, too!

We love you darling Jacob boy!

And yes, it was terribly hard to pick just one picture per month.

Blonde Baby-shell

The other day a bath produced the blondest, sweetest head of hair I've ever seen. It also somehow inspired Jacob to chew the dickens out of some monkey feet and a little jeep.

Just when I thought I wouldn't catch any smiles...

After the smiles it was all whistfulness for Jacob. And, of course, all blonde-ness.

Guess who's walking!?!

Matt!

That's right, this is Jacob's body double on a run through the grass with (or away from) Kaizer, Great Grandma & Grandpa Hutchison's dog. Aunt Bev saw this picture and said, "I didn't know Jacob was walking!"

Did we get ya'? Broahahahahah!

How could you not love these Sloths?

That's right, I'm thinking a lot about Jana, Jon, Maddie & Ian. No big reason, I just love them lots. If you want to see how cute they are, and I mean cute, then feast your eyes on this.

Not sure it's worth the click? Here's some motivation.
