Haircut # 492

Yesterday Jacob was cranky. Horribly, undeniably, decidedly cranky. When he wasn't eating or sleeping he was crying. I was casting around for a reason and I came on one...his hair! I had been wanting to get it cut for a week or two now, but we're busy and we also like that long haired weirdo look in our children. It had gotten out of hand. It was in his eyes, over his ears, and he must have been miserable (his face was also really dirty!).

His hair had gotten so long he even had Jim Halpert wings (and still a very dirty face. What was that?).

So I tried something, anything to alleviate his discomfort.

It worked for a few minutes, but then he started to realize it was there.

And then the jig was up: he wanted it out.

Usually I cut J's hair, but I just wasn't feeling up to it. (It requires precision that comes with more sleep than I'm getting.) So, my wonderful, handsome husband took Jacob on a father/son outing to get his hair cut. Matt said it was a terribly difficult job. With the thrashing and the kicking and the oy! But, Matt did it. And Jacob did it too. He also finished his lunch and neatly stacked his dishes today!

I always miss the long hair when it's gone, but at least he can see. Now he will be able to weather his upsets with his typical ease and grace. Ha!

Also, please enjoy the following update picture! That was a great mohawk.

The mohawk phase is so fleeting

Why shouldn't we embrace, enhance and enjoy it?

The King and the Golden Bear

No, this is not the title of a long lost Narnia book. Take a look and see what you think it means.

It was brought to our attention that our boys' hair styles strongly resemble the hair styles of two legends. (Both of whom are known for their skills as well as their hair.)

Did we name the wrong child Nicholas?

Phew, I'm all caught up.

If I catch those boys being cute I'll be behind again. Enjoy lotsa new posts.

DISCLAIMER: I am trying to find a new way to post pictures that doesn't crop them! So, I do have good aim, but Flickr doesn't. Any suggestions?

I'm hands-free bay-bee!

I am in love.

(Right now I am incapable of not looking haggard in a picture. Oh wait, that's because I am!)

Also, hahahahahaha!

Does this bug you?

That's Jacob's motto in regards to Nicholas. He loves to poke, prod, observe and heckle him. Nicholas takes it in stride though, and usually kinda likes it in a weird sort of way.

There's nothing like a nice, refreshing swim

Jacob and Katie love to play in water. They LOVE to play in water. They especially love to play with water in this pool that our neighbors gave us. (Apparently, duct tape really does a good job!) Anyway, they love it. They're always asking to play water. The other day Katharine and I weren't up for the whole "water thing" so they made due. They went "swimming" and "sleeping". They must have turned over 15 times.

Does this mean I'm brilliant?

We think so. Look at how observant our little boy is. That's some serious concentration. And brilliance.

Hutchie Cousins

This is a picture from Nicholas's blessing that escaped my thorough "blog-inclusion-meter". We're a little "boy heavy" on the Hutch side. (The fellow in the middle is the boys' cousin Jackson.)

Is Jacob 7?!? I had no idea! Also, is Jacob doing "El Tigre" or "Blue Steel"? I can't tell...

Some things never change

I guess if you love something once, you'll always love it.

(My baby has grown up!)

Elmo likes to share!

The other day Jacob did this:

and said, "share". Jacob continued to offer Elmo to Nicholas for a while.

(Apparently Nicholas's forehead was bored.) After many futile attempts to get Nicholas to interact with Elmo at all Jacob took him back.

And then he ate his eye.

The Votes are In

Our vast readership has confirmed that Nicholas is, in fact, UBER-CUTE (as if there was any doubt). It seems like every day I am pulling out the camera to document it. So, I have tons of sweet, sweet pics of my little boy with nothing but cuteness to link them together. I guess cuteness is enough.
