I love you like I love a day at Disneyland

Sure, there might be lines. And you might have to walk a lot. And the churro vendor might be out. And your favorite ride might be closed for repairs. And you will definitely have to hear "It's a Small World" one too many times. But, really, honestly, it's a pretty rock star day.

Nicholas is my Disneyland-day boy. Exciting, tiring, and lots of fun. Sure, there are hard things, but it ain't no thing with him. He's quick to redirect, he's cuddly, he's sweet, he's playful, he's imaginative, and he's thoughtful.

I love this boy*. I feel like this stage is slipping through my fingers. Oh please don't grow older. I wouldn't change a thing.

Except for the no churros.

*As I love all of my boys.

"The moon smiled at us"

Tonight the big boys took a while falling asleep. They laughed, talked, planned, and looked out their window. They were stunned to find ONE star and, oh yes, and, the moon. In one night! We are truly city dwellers.

Matt gets anxious when the boys are chatty at bedtime. He goes in and tries to reason with them and quell their evening energy. I kind of like it because they are funny and when they come out of their room to talk to me I can just nod, listen, and shoo them back to bed. And occasionally go in because they need to cuddle. Plus, they are slow to fight because they know that fighting will bring an end to it all.

Tonight that would mean an end to looking out of their window at the "wishing star" and the smiling moon while poring over the new scholastic book catalog and loudly asking, "Is this expensive?" and "How many dollars is this?".

So much of our days are a blur of demands, tantrums, freak outs, and just general crazy, but I really like these nighttime moments (and all moments like them). And I really like these boys.

(This is Nico's newest pose. I think it looks racist, but it's not.)

Say Hello to a new Sunbeam

A primary Sunbeam to be exact.

Ben-zilla!

As of this week he stands! And he subsequently destroys peaceful games of Uno on the couch and carefully laid out trains (or cars) on beds.

By the way, in our house fastidiously selected and arranged groupings of cars or trains are common. Especially in beds.

Here's Hutch 3 with Hutch 1 and Hutch 2...who are still pretty fine lookin'. Oh, how is it ever possible these big boys were so little!?

And, in case you were wondering, Benjo got his Christmas wish.
