Looking Toward the Future

That's right, Jacob won't always have copious amounts of Cheerios and cheese chunks at his disposal. Someday he'll be on his own, and he'll have to provide all of his own cereal and dairy needs. Let alone veggies! So, it's a good idea for Jacob to develop talents that he has that might fetch a price in the future. Lately he's been practicing his spinning in the kitchen. Easter eggs, an old phone, toy rings and water bottles are his preferred items to spin. Check him out in action.

Note how he bends down to watch the phone in motion. He wants to make sure he creates a quality spin.

Yet again, look at his attention to detail.

Please, let us know what you think Jacob can do in the future with this impressive skill. We've only thought of one so far, and we don't really want him in the circus.

Also, not only can Jacob spin objects, he can spin himself! SPOILER ALERT: We were listening to Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and you can hear all about Tonk's patronus if you're not careful and lots of my wheezy laughter trying to drown out said book on tape. I guess I could have gotten up and turned it off...hmmm...well you just turn the volume down!

Enjoy.

I say that he should work on a merry go round. Either that or at Disneyland working on the Tea Cups Ride. He sure is talented!

Hey now! I'm sure there's LOADS of money to be made w/Barnum and Bailey.

Cute video!!

Well...I truly think he's mastered the art of break dancing and at only 1 year of age! "So you think you can dance?" here he comes!!! Just think - if you did put down laminate flooring in the great room, he would have so much more room to practice!
I think he gets his 'attention to detail' from you, Robyn!

Look at that thoughtful little concentrating face and those anticipatory little hands and feet! And don't even get me started on his adorable little boy hair. I am always struck by Jacob's soft-looking, smooth olive skin (thank you very much, Mommy); blond, blond hair, and expressive face and body. He is just such a sweet little bear cub.

Here is a pretty compelling career idea.

Aunt Mere will do her best to start him in the right direction.

Andrea: What a marvelous idea! I ABSOLUTELY love Disneyland. But what if Jacob were the CEO of the Magic Kingdom? Then he would oversee the spinning of the tea cups and make more money.

Natalie: I guess you're right, the circus would potentially make him loads of money. Life under the big top might not be so bad.

Shayleen: I hadn't thought of him becoming a dancer! A totally cool, manly dancer of course. Maybe we'll have to get him a ghetto blaster and some high top shoes to complete his routine.

Meredith: Ha ha ha ha ha! What a good idea! Trust you to think of it. Shhh, don't tell Matt! Maybe he could get on board with a Paul Wyle type skater for a son...we'll have to see.

Surely there's something you can do with a spinning talent besides the circus.....How about electrical engineer?
Love Mom :D

Yes, Paul is the BEST. Plus, he graduated summa cum laude from Harvard, won the Olympic silver medal (and made buckets of money touring and competing), and then graduated from Harvard Business School. He now has his own athlete representative-type company. Not too shabby (or in any way un-masculine), I'd say.

Oh, and he's also a devoted husband and father--very manly indeed.

Have I said too much? Could I be called obsessed?

I couldn't get the vid at work, but here's what I TOTALLY thought of when I saw it:

Or even this:

Thanks for sharing that adorable little boy. He brings me so many smiles.

Oops. Put a litle pg at the end of that first link (so it says .jpg), and it will work great.

Looks like Jacob has LOTS of opportunities with his fabulous spinning talent!!

Shayleen took my idea. I have avid break dancers at school. One was asked by the Sterling Scholar judges to break a few moves for them during his interview! I like the Magic Kingdom chief, though I might be too old to use all of those FREE tickets. Hope you are providing expanding spinning opportunities. He looks like a scientist (engineer) working for NASA. They intently look for torque and such.

I keep returning to this blog to watch the brilliance of this 13-month-old baby's mind. I am in awe that Heavenly Father can send these healthy spirits who can cogitate so well so fast. It is revitalizing and awesome---in the classical sense.
