An historic 300th post

I remember sitting in the little sunshine lounge in our old apartment and asking Matt, "So, do you think we should have a blog?" I was 8 months pregnant with Jacob and feeling very far from home. I thought that a blog would help bridge the distance between us and our families a bit. Matt chuckled and said, "Sure".

And so it began.

It's been three years and 300 posts, baby. We've gone from this:

(Man, I avoided "pregnant nose" with Nico but got an extra helping of it with Jacob!)

to this:

We really feel so blessed (and a little coo-coo bananas) to have these two little fellows. They are unique and bright and delightful. They are also pretty easy on the eyes. That helps when times get tough.

Allow me to tout the virtues of such an amazing addition to the world wide web. From its humble beginnings Babies are such a nice way to start people has stayed the course and held true to the Hutch Fam's values. Values like cuteness, fun-ness and other fun stuff.

And where would we be without you, the readers! I really don't know if there are 10 of you or 14 of you...but regardless of who you are you matter a lot. I would like to say that I would do this even if no one read it, but I'm just not sure! It's become a scrapbook and a time line for the boys' lives and knowing that it will be read and enjoyed helps me to do it. (Perhaps I should feel concerned that I wouldn't just do it for us...)

Anyway, in honor of our lovely readership we have created the

Babies are such a nice way to start people award for outstanding achievement in the field of excellence!

If you'd like to be eligible for such a fine distinction then please leave a comment. I will randomly select one commenter on Sunday August 10th to receive the commemorative Babies are such a nice way to start people award for outstanding achievement in the field of excellence! prize. The prize is well worth the comment. It will be commemorative, useful and edible! Curious?

Thanks again for your loving readership of this humble, all-important, amazing, tiny, little blog.

*The recent pictures were done by our good friend Penny. Here is her website. She also did these pictures of Jacob so long ago. Just so you know...

I think Hilda is purposely cheating by not only doing two posts on the same blog, but then posting the same thoughts TWICE. Hilda, get some integrity! And Robyn, count me in on the contest.

Does my phone call count for the contest when I told you how darling the pictures are of the boys and how thin and gorgeous you look in the family picture? I think that could count for two, don't you??? :-)

I have you in my google reader so I know when you've posted something new. Of course, you know I read your blog by the way we met the first time (me recognizing you and you having no idea who I was).

300?! I have a few more weeks before I hit 3 years and I'd have to count up, but I doubt I'm at 300! What fun to do a prize giveaway! I may have to steal it...just for fun! What cute family pics...Penny does a great job!

I'm so glad you're blogging. Thanks for the window into your world. It's a great way to stay in touch.

Rob Holmes just moved into my stake. Come see us sometime and we'll have a mini PHS reunion.

Don't worry, Mom's comments will only count as one. And, Aunt LuAnn, as grateful as I am for the kind words your comment also only counts for one. Let's play fair ladies! Hee hee.

I'm excited to see those of you who have thrown your hats in the ring so far and only ask that my unknown readers feel comfortable to also try for the big, amazing prize. I'd love to know who you are!

(This comment will not be counted either...)

Grandma Gamette (the Great one, of course)wants in on the contest. When she saw the cute pic of Nico on my wallpaper, she was gleeful :).

She says, "Those children are adorable." And she hasn't even seen all of the blog yet. Count her in as she has to use my computer and me to get in the game.

W-O-W!!! I think you are "super-blogger" You know you got me started, but I fought it for a long time just because I knew that I could never be as witty as you are (complo to the judge!)

Seriously, I love reading your blog, and think this is a TOTALLY cute idea! Love you!

Is Jacob doing "round and round the garden" with Nicolas? It looks like it. So cute together. I love all of the pictures.

I'm supposed to be preparing a lesson for RS tomorrow, but I'd much rather comment on your blog.

By the way, you look gorgeous in your family pictures!

Great pictures, Hutches! I loooove the ones you sent for my b. day. Precious indeed, and so, so adorable!

I can't believe you've made 300 posts. Congratulations! I feel like I already got the prize because I have enjoyed and been cheered by every post. Honestly, your hilarious writing and those little cherubs have made the difference between continuing work on a paper (and now story) and giving up. So, thanks!!!

I've loved seeing and reading about your life--it truly has helped bridge the distance. Here's to 300 more!! (No pressure, of course!) Love you!

Just got back from Tabby and I want in on the contest. I realize that the selection will be at random, but based on the number of my staff that have viewed your blog at my desk and theirs I really should be in the running. I went to my secretary's computer the other day and found that she had bookmarked the blog. She is either as fascinated with my grandchildren or is really sucking up..... I know it is the former. Love ya Dad

Yeah for the 300th blog! There have been so many chuckles, oooh's and aww's, and tears (usually because Robyn is one of the most witty people I have ever known) Keep them rollin out! I might never comment, but I read and love them so much!
