My blog isn't under construction (it's already perfect)...it's our house! We really are moving to Chicago in the fall and so we REALLY DO need to sell our house. (Anyone interested in the cheapest house in Simpson Elementary? In lovely, desirable Peachtree Corners? A quaint 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom ranch? Just moments from Trader Joe's?) In order to sell our fabulous home we need to reverse the years of cosmetic abuse this house has received at the hands of various homeowners with dumb ideas in their heads and beer cans in their hands.
It's not all that horrible. Nothing that a few hundred bucks and some hard work won't set aright. But I have learned a few lessons (based on the previous owners' mistakes) that I'd like to impart to you all.
1. Don't go patching walls without knowing what you're doing.
2. Don't paint without taping first. And if you're too stubborn to tape, please just pretend you care about baseboards and door frames.
3. Use a drop cloth.
4. Don't use wooden towel racks, brushed nickel cabinet pulls, a brass faucet, a dark matte metal light fixture and a bright shiny metal tub faucet IN THE SAME BATHROOM.
5. And don't decide to decorate a bathroom in a seaside motif complete with lighthouse tiles and a seashell sink. Please.
Thank you.
(And please, buy my house!)

Just moments from Trader Joe's! Oh, I want your house!! But not with a bathroom like you describe...
Post pictures of the remodeling, please!
You can do it!!! Give Jacob lots of extra kisses for me, and I am sure you can do it!
If it makes you feel better, I have a friend who inherited/was talked into buying her husband's grandmother's house. The kitchen had turquoise cabinets and the bathrooms were pink. All pink---as in pink tub, toilets, sinks. A horrible Pepto-bismal pink. I didn't even know that you could get a toilet that color.
Good luck with the remodeling and try not to let Jacob have too much fun with a paintbrush, although I'm sure he'll try!
Start watching sell this house! I mean it I watched and learned so much about how to stage it. By the way under Paytons gross blue sponge paint was tons and tons of dents on the wall. So you could do something like a sponge of three different tans and it might hide some of it. We did a solid tan and it showed everything! Good luck. I am jealous I love to do this kind of thing.
oh what fun! I can swap some stories on dumb things that previous homeowners have done..... good luck!
seriously if you need an extra pair of hands to watch kids or do some of the housework please let me know. i've been wanting to come down to atlanta but dont want to be a burden. give me chores!
"HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBYN DEAR" "ON THE DAY THAT YOU WERE BORN THE ANGELS GOT TO-GETHER AND DECIDED TO CREATE A DREAM COME TRUE!!"(Imagine me singing that) :D So true! How we love you so much!! Don't work too hard to-night on that house. I say celebrate to-night!
Love you, Mom
