Hello, operator?

i just wanted to post this picture b/c i thought it was funny. i was holding him as he fed and i looked down and would swear (if i did that kind of thing) he was trying to pretend i wasn't there by acting like he was on the phone.

anywho, we just wanted to give a report of some of the comings and goings of the house hutchison:

sometime around the middle of the week, robyn and i were kind of wondering what the story was about his belly button, or the large, gross-looking, black thing still attached to it. it seemed like time enough for it "go away". i thought it might be a good idea if we used some wart remover to burn it off or dig it out with a dull spoon, but robyn assured me there were better ways. i succumbed. she called the nurse and as she spoke to the nurse, off it came. so now jacob has a quite funny looking thing where the large, gross-looking, black thing used to be. folks have told us that will soon look normal also. i'm trying to be patient for my son to look more and more like a person.

and b/c his cord fell off, we gave him his first bath. b/c i don't know how to post more than one picture at a time, i'll let robyn tell more about that later and we'll put a few pics on.

we also made it through our first three-hour block of church. after only spending a total of two hours in church over the last three sundays, i thought three hours might be a bit much so soon. but after robyn told me i could bring a snack and take a nap after we got home, i decided to go. jacob, on the other hand, had no qualms. he actually got to sleep through most of it. it seemed like every female i passed in the hall wanted me to stop so they could see the baby. if i wasn't married (to such a lovely bride) i'd probably have gotten a big head.

not that any of you read this blog to find out how the dad is doing, i thought i'd take a minute to tell you how I am doing. i had a job interview on friday with a valuation firm. it looks pretty good. my interview started at 2 in the afternoon and i didn't leave until around 7:30. can you imagine a five and a half hour interview? grueling! not really, it's a small firm and most of the time we were just shooting the bull. the owner of the firm spent 30 mins (of his three hours) trying to convince me of the virtues of owning a saab 9-3. hopefully he plans on paying me enough to own one.

well, so long for now.

You two are so funny! Sometimes we read your blog, laugh our heads off and forget to comment. We're so glad that the Daddy is doing so well and is up to 3 hours of church now. Soon you'll even be able to do it without a snack and a nap. Won't you be proud then! Yes it does look like he was trying to ignore you by being on the phone. Won't be long and that will actually happen. Well we sure love you guys and hope you haven't been too affected by "Dennis"

P.S. I seem to recall that Matt has a birthday coming up. Oh boy!!

just so anyone reading this blog does not get confused, the last comment about someone having an approaching birthday is an unfounded rumor attempting to bring the daddy into the spotlight. if, however, that rumor was begun so that funds may be diverted to the daddy to assist in the preservation of the mack daddy, i suppose that rumor may have some measure of basis in the truth.

ps -- the daddy loves the mommy

We are reading the blog. We laughed so hard yesterday, we forgot to respond. Instead, we told all of our friends about the dull spoon and Matt's snacks at church. Meredith has a tip. You can smuggle your blankie in, Matt, by wrapping the boy in it. Anyone in the church would excuse a napping dad clutching a newborn.

You cannot avoid b-days, Matt. However, if you are talking Saabs, you need to be giving us the gifts.

Hope the job op proves fruitful.

Keep posting. We look for pic each day and now see that Matt's contributions rival Carly's blog for great chuckles!

Robyn, watch out for that new fountain at your house.
